Jonty Griffiths

Men's 2nd Team Head Coach

Jonty is a highly accomplished former field hockey player who achieved remarkable success at both national and international levels. His journey in the sport began at Whitgift School, where he won an impressive seven national titles in both outdoor and indoor hockey. He continued to excel at Loughborough University between 2013 and 2017, contributing to his team’s success in securing three BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) championships.

Representing England at various age groups, Jonty played for the U16, U18, and U21 teams, and participated in the England U21 Junior World Cups in both 2013 and 2017. Over the course of his career, he earned 22 senior caps for both Great Britain and England. One of the highlights of his playing career was being part of the GB team that won the Sultan of Johor Cup in 2018, where they claimed the gold medal, capping off a highly successful international run.

Coaching Career:

After retiring from competitive play, Jonty transitioned into coaching, bringing his wealth of experience to the next generation of hockey players. He began coaching at Whitgift School, where he led the U14 and 1st teams to multiple national titles, demonstrating his ability to inspire and develop young talent. In addition, Jonty has begun his coaching tenure with Wimbledon Men's 2nd XI, where he is currently in his first year. His coaching approach combines his deep understanding of the game with a passion for mentoring players, helping them reach their full potential.

Triathlon & Running:

Following the end of his hockey career, [Name] shifted his focus to triathlon and running, embracing the challenge of endurance sports with the same determination and drive that characterized his playing days. He completed the Southampton Marathon in an impressive 2 hours and 35 minutes and successfully participated in the 70.3 Jonkoping Half-Ironman in July 2024. Looking ahead, [Name] is focused on completing the Copenhagen Ironman in August 2025, further demonstrating his commitment to pushing his physical limits and achieving new milestones in his athletic career.

With a background in high-performance sports, [Name] has taken on these new challenges with remarkable success, drawing on his discipline and competitive spirit to excel in the world of triathlon. His journey continues to inspire those around him, as he aims to reach new heights in endurance sports while continuing to share his passion for fitness and performance
