Kevin Johnson
​Women's 1st Team Head Coach
Kevin has led the Wales Senior Women’s squad for the best part of a decade including the Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast in 2018 and Birmingham in 2022. Alongside this role, Kevin is Performance Director for Wales Hockey and brings a range of skills and experiences that will enhance the environment for our athletes.Previous to this, he worked with England U21 women from 2011 – 2014 including a Junior World Cup in 2013; where the team reached the semi-finals. He holds two European Junior Championship Bronze medals from 2012 and 2014. This team featured 1st XI Captain Anna Toman along with current 1st XI squad stalwarts, Olivia Chilton and Suzi Petty.
During his time with Wales and England Hockey, Kev has performed various roles including leading junior age groups, assisting, and leading the Great Britain Elite Development Program and leading on the England Development Squad. In the 2018/19 season, Johnson assisted the Great Britain senior women including Pro League competition against New Zealand, Australia and China.
Johnson has Premier league pedigree having spent five years with Holcombe HC leading them from the regional divisions, through the national league and into the premier division. During this time, Holcombe enjoyed domestic playoff success and won the European Club Trophy in 2018.Johnson holds a degree in Sports Science and is a level 3 certified coach.
